In a year that will surely see its fair share of celebration from McLaren thanks in part to 2013 marking its 50th Anniversary as highlighted here, the English carmaker rejoices in the release of official production photos for its highly anticipated P1 sportscar. Having first covered the coupe here which was followed by an in action video that released just last month, McLaren provides imagery to what will be expected to hit showrooms later this year.

Vertu Launches Its First Android-Powered Smartphone | IamJuanC

Vertu, formerly Nokia’s in-house brand for luxury mobile communication, has announced its very first Android-powered smartphone: the Vertu Ti. As opposed to adopting Nokia’s Symbian operating system, Vertu decided to go with Android, whose 60% majority share of worldwide users made it the platform of choice. The Vertu Ti is set to be composed of a scratch-proof sapphire screen, an 8-megapixel camera, Bang & Olufsen-backed sound system, and even 64 gigabytes of internal memory. The New Edgeland House by Bercy Chen Architecture | IamJuanC

Designed by Bercy Chen Architecture and located in Austin, Texas is the Edgeland House. Referencing the native pit houses of North America’s earliest inhabitants, the Edgeland House features a semi-subterranean design that improves thermal efficiency while also giving the residence a striking appearance. The split design of the house divides the house between social and private areas and its strong, angular contrast nicely with the natural surroundings that ensconce the property. The icing on the cake is the courtyard area bisecting the two spaces and leading to an outdoor pool.

Audi’s New Automotive Lighting Technologies Debut at CES 2013 | IamJuanC

Audi has delivered a new set of lighting technological embellishments, spearheading the automotive world with concepts of pilot driving and mobile communication. Aside from an abundance of innovative technicalities applied to the dashboard and cockpit, here’s s few particular stand-out mechanisms which will keep you allured. Firstly we see the progressive “Swarm” technology enforced on the vehicle’s sides. Adopting OLED technology, the lights are replaced with a large continuous light panel of countless flickering light waves, which synchronize the vehicle with its speed and movement. Another noteworthy attribute is the “Laser Tail Light,” providing drivers behind with good visibility even in challenging weather conditions. Additionally, a fan-shaped laser trail beams downwards to the road, prompting drivers to keep their sufficient distance.

Really Cool Cubify The Cube 3D Printer | IamJuanC

It seems we’re only a hashtag away from flying cars and robot servants now that Cubify has released “The Cube” to the general public. Though not as glamorous as the aforementioned, The Cube is still a revolutionary product in that its a commercially accessible 3-dimensional printer. For those who think on one plane inside the proverbial box, 3D printing means rendering three-dimensional objects from a 2D design. To reiterate: this is a creative’s dream come true. The 19-pound printer is nearly half the weight of its contemporaries. With a design that truly accompanies the home, as well as its relatively affordable price tag, the notion that we’ll be seeing a lot more of these is no work of science fiction.

Developed in conjunction with design group KiBiSi, the new phone is touted as a luxury touchscreen smartphone. Building off the designs of the first phone, which was designed by Yves Behar, this new phone uses precision built parts and high-end materials including 24-karat gold. Targeted at wealthy consumers, we can’t help but hope that the stark, monolithic design trickles down to more budget-friendly phones.

A Look into the Future with Google Glass | IamJuanC

Much like any piece of technology reminiscent of something seen in a retro edition of Star Trek, the Google Glass raises an eyebrow of apprehension — a gimmicky looking device that instantly abolishes any notion of style before seeking out its function. Once explored however, the Google Glass — an eyeglass hailed as the next era of computing — may actually change the way we interact. Now in its early prototype stages, the wearable computer is being put to the test after only 18 months of product experimentation and around three years in concept. Explored first hand by theverge.com’s Joshua Topolsky, the Google Glass clearly paves a way for users to connect with each other and technology like never before, and in a hands-free, easy-to-communicate manner — another step closer to the future depicted by bygone science fiction scenes. Watch the above video to fully explore the first ever look at the Google Glass

New Bugatti Gangloff Concept | IamJuanC

While it may never come to actual fruition, preliminary images of the Bugatti Gangloff concept certainly provide ample excitement for what the next generation supercar may look like from the French manufacturer. Polish designer Pawel Czyzewski drew inspiration from the 1938 Type 57 SC Atalante Coupe — but even casual gearheads will note a nod to a current beast being churned out dubbed the Veyron. In speaking about the project Czyzewski commented, “In time of commercial trash and plastic it is hard to see something that has a soul and is able to squeeze out a positive mark on the heart.” This is obviously an attempt to harken back to a period of exclusive and hand-built automobiles – with key design attributes including muscular front fenders and rear shoulders and slender flanks featuring the traditional blade-shaped air intakes.

My buddy Dan would love this car!

Lamborghini Sesto Concept | IamJuanC

It's only a concept, but my, what a concept it is. The Lamborghini Sesto Concept ($TBA) is setting a new bar for lightweight supercars, thanks to advanced carbon fiber technology construction that gives it a curb weight of just over 2,200 lbs. — and that's including its V10 engine and permanent all-wheel drive. And while the V10 outputs "only" 570 hp, that's still good enough for a 1.75 kg per hp power-to-weight ratio and an insane 0-62 mph time of just 2.5 seconds. If you're wanting to get your hands on one, you'd best wish for A.) Lamborghini to make it and B.) some sort of financial windfall, because this thing isn't gonna come cheap.
